 Ballet Shoes is a 2007 British television film, taking place in 1930s London, adapted by Heidi Thomas from Noel Streatfeild's 1936 novel Ballet Shoes. In the film, Emma portrayed an orphan, named Pauline Fossil who is adopted by Gum, an eccentric explorer (Richard Griffiths) and raised by her caretaker Nana (Victoria Wood) in a colorful house full of eccentric lodgers.

She has to struggle to fulfill her ambitious dreams alongside two other adopted sisters Petr ova and Posy after Gum passed away. After released, the film received a lot of positive reviews, especially the highlight performance of Emma Watson.

My Week with Marilyn is a 2011 drama film directed by Simon Curtis and written by Adrian Hodges. It follows the biography of the beauty of Marilyn Monroe. Although Emma just landed a supporting part in this film as a secretary Lucy of Marilyn, she played an important role in its success.

 In the film, the image of the little witch Hermione is completely stripped off, but a mature, calm but also shrewd woman instead. Just within the first 6 weeks since the premiere, the film's revenue has reached 10 million dollars.

This is a 2012 American coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Stephen Chbosky, based on Chbosky's 1999 novel of the same name. After release, this film received a positive critical response and commercial success, earning $33.4 million to a budget of $13 million.

 It received several accolades, including the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature, two Critics' Choice Movie Awards nominations. In the movie, Emma played Sam, a free-spirited teen girl. Sam was the polar opposite of Hermione, she was an effervescent yet troubled soul, still trying to figure out where she belongs.

 Emma Watson made a great effort for this role which helped her to win the Best Actor in the Drama category of the Teen Choice Award 2013. This film got an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

 

 5. Noah (2014) 

 

Noah is a 2014 American epic Biblical drama film directed by Darren Aronofsky. The plot centers on the main character Noah and his family who are chosen by God to undertake a momentous mission before an apocalyptic flood cleanses the world.

In this movie, Emma portrayed Ila, the adopted daughter of Noah. She represents the desire to be a mother, to be a wife. And her cry of giving birth is the happiest sound of her life? Ila is deemed to be a breakthrough performance in Emma’s filmography.

Though this movie was banned in some countries, Noah generally received many positive reviews from the critics with 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed over $362 million worldwide, making it Aronofsky's highest-grossing film to date. 

 

6. Beauty and the Beast (2017) 

 

   In 2017, Emma Watson caught the attention of Disney filmmakers and became the real-life version of the famous Princess, Belle in the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

 In the movie, Belle (Watson) has to deal with a monstrous Beast (Dan Stevens) after he captures her father and begs to take his place. Held captive in a castle filled with enchanted objects, Belle begins to befriend the Beast and see him for the man he once was.

 Though the movie did not get a high score, just 71%on Rotten Tomatoes, most were charmed by the ensemble cast led by Watson. With the cinematic face and flexible acting skill, Emma did well with her role which partly helped the movie’s revenue surpass the $1 billion marks at the box office, becoming one of the most successful films of 2017.

 

  7. Little Women (2019)                   

   After 2 years since Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson returned to the big screen with a starring role in the seventh film adaptation of the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott. Emma portrayed Margaret “Meg” March – the big sister in a family having 4 daughters.

Their mother passed away when they are just little girl, so Meg is not only the oldest sister but also takes her mom's place to look after her younger sisters. In contrast to Jo's dream, Meg always dreams of a peaceful happy family. Although Meg and her husband's life goes through ups and downs, she persevered through it all to nurture her small family.

 After “Little Woman” was released, Emma’s performance has earned acclaim and also other young actors like Saoirse Ronan, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet.  The film got many positive views from the   audience and a perfect score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
